What thoughts does everyone have on the younger gereation's attitude? I am asking this in accordance with Hip Hop and everyday situations. Seems to me alot of the passion for good music has been lost and, a lot less effort is put into just everyday activities. I wonder do you folks agree with this or am I overlooking the younger cats?

^Your only 15 shit, I thought you were like 17 or 18.... Yeah I feel mixed feelings on it rep. Alot of the younger heads feel that they always have to be tough, so maybe a dood who would make some solid music on a topic. Stays away because that's not just the shit in the club or at the parties.

The mainstream, and the ambition for MORE and MORE money has ruined, and on a certain way, "killed" Hip Hop. Plus, medias like the radio and shit like MTV aint really going to put up Underground Hip Hop, cuz they know they would lose ratings, cuz most peeps go into that mainstream bullshit! The younger generation aint ruined, its all about their tastes and what they've grown to watch and like! S'all the same!

I dont have a problem with mainstream music. Im not jammin out to Bis' n his rapist sounding ass. Mainstream music has a place, but a much smaller place than it holds atm. You need that ish...except soulja boy. Yahh and Crank that are just another level of shitism. "Get outta my face you doo-doo head dummy". That shits terrible, its pathetic that you have to degrade yourself that far just to get attention. I know a lot of Cats that are into non-mainstream music. You cant soely blame artists though, you have to blame the execs. When NaS came into the game everyone's head was on another level, Rakim and Kane were coming of their primes, there was no such thing as Teeny-Bop rap, all the shit was lyrical/message-based and NaS ripped it in those aspecsts, that's why he had so much success, that kinda shit was popular back then, there was NO alternative, which is a good thing. if NaS was coming into the game now with illmatic he would mos def not be signed to a major label, he would either be signed to a smaller label or even have to wait longer to get signed. Standards have changed, look at lupe, 8 years in the game and still getting no recoginition. If lupe was coming into the game in 92 he'd be signed EASY. people were into lyrical ish back then, even the bangers were lyrical. Now...the formula is have a bangin beat, a catchy hook and basic rythmes and you have a hit record. So the artists just changed up, gotta make different music to get signed.
I wouldnt say get rid of mainstream music all together...but there needs to be a balance which is missing.

I consider myself part of the younger generation, we have alot less respect for people and culture in a whole, we are hard headed and think we are always right, i don't agree with the statement that these kids wanna be hard, thats only true in white suburbia, the hip-hop media glorify's hoods and living in the hood and being hoodrich, and these suburban kids just hear whats on the media, so they think wow thats cool and try to replicate it. WE ARE EXTREMELY LAZY, the buds gotten better and the self motivation has gotten worse, there are an alarming number of kids, including myself, that havn't had a real job yet, and i'm 18!!!! yes thats pathetic, and in no way am i excluding myself, but kids now aday think of more innovated ways of making money, other than bein hired by a corporation or business. so in this case, i don't think i'm lazy, i just want the easiest way to make money. I perform a certain service for my community, i drive around collecting there alumminum cans and take them to the recycling center, not a real job, but it's income, it isn't taxed, and i'm helping the enviornment.

I mean I think dood's just throw out white suburbia, like it's their fault for buying a cd. lol @ having no job but picks up cans. But at least yu helping out yur community n shit.. Yu graduate?

I wonder do you folks agree with this or am I overlooking the younger cats? the younger generation has been labeled as the 'me' generation. and it is true. it even shows up in hiphop. rappers rap about what they have and everything about themselves. this is also killing off the good music. imo the younger generation is ignorant. especially in hiphop, it seems that most dont even think for themselves...jim jones starts wearing skulls and chains and now every other kid is wearing a damn bicycle chain on their pants and skulls, wearing what we used to call 'young' clothing. im guessing the correct term now is 'fitted'. anyway in the music sense not much thought is put into it, thus we have lil wayne, dipset etc. btw this is a generalization..for those of you in that generation..dont take too much offense
