Hip-Hop didn't die on the radio.. EMCEES just realized that the radio/mainstream shit wasn't in line with what they were working for.. Hip-Hop artists are Ambassadors for the Hip-Hop Culture.. RAPPERS on the other hand.. Are messengers for the mainstream market.. Yeah, SOME Rappers will talk SOME real shit, but as a whole, thats far and few between.. How an Emcee views Rap & Mainstream? Our songs are supposed to be the voice of our soul Not bought and sold; Not all controlled Bring a little fire when the world get cold If you shed a few tears then to me you went gold [/b] Brother Ali - Truth Is[/u] -That is all-

Rap isn't dead and it won't ever be.
As long as there are people on this Earth who need a release.. it will never die.
Everybody will have a preference and no matter how much longer this world exists, someone will prefer hip-hop.

props and +rep to kbs on a great quote, i think that's one of the best summations of my views.
[hip hop is a culture.. short of global genocide and law change, it can't die. rap however can, as it's just a way of "singing". it's rhythmic talking.. if emcees were to find another outlet, and rap became less popular.. it could die.. but that'll nver happen
and yeah, real hip hop heads have given up on mainstream radio it seems, and moved to touring and the internet

I personally don't even listen to the radio, so the mainstream shit thats being bumped today aint even seen as hip hop in my opinion. Real hip hop will never be played or shown on radio or tv,.. why?? cuhz hiphop is used as a voice of opinion, and the opinion's of most are reflected in a way which is explicit and straight forward. It's Truth. The corporations don't want us to know the truth, thus they pump out " WALK IT OUT " and " 2 STEP " every other track. To me, aslong as one holds a solid beleif,...expressess it, and stands for what they say... then hip hop is alive. Simple as that,... if we all could stand to not fold our beleifs in for money and fame then the lifespan of hiphop will be significantly extended... it's the people that are out for the money that are killing the image of hiphop. I also hate to say it, but the younger crowd of people also are contributing to the early death of hiphop. Being that they wernt alive to see, say.. KRS ONE and Boogie down productions.. when thinking of hiphop their minds go straight to whoever is out now,.. like... T.I or YOUNG JEEZY... which both stand nowhere near the cats who are responsible for the fundamentals of hip hop. In the day of age we are in, if we continue to see businesses going in the same marketing patterns.. we will see an early death of the HIP HOP GENERATION... but the underground, will live for ever... Just like cockroaches
" The industry that runs hiphop is a machine, A machine works one way because thats the way it was programed. You program a machine to do a job, and it does it. It's just like the industry, they found a formula that works and thats what they running with. They using that one formula cuhz they kno it brings in the money. " - Datin
Couldn't of said it better myself^^

Word^^
You seem familiar, i just cant figure out who you are yet.
Haha but yes, great Brother Ali quote to the dude up there, I think, in a sense, we create our own scenes and view of hiphop, if you think mainstream is hiphop, then thats your scene, if your into underground, then thats all you, its not an ordinary type of music, it cant die like 80's rock and thrash metal, its an expression, like painting, painting has been around forever, and continues to thrive, not on the level it once was, but it still continues, and this is the exact same situation for hiphop
Im really high right now.

rap or it's actual term "emceeing" is one of the 4 elements of hip hop.
So if hip hop is dead than that means "emceeing" or "rap" is dead.
My bad if someone already said this.
And when NaS said hip hop is dead he meant hypothetically not literally

Hip-Hop = Far from dead.. Emcee's are popping out of the underground all over cause RAP music has gotten beyond ridiculous.. Rap = Ridiculous ignorant bullshit sold on shelves to a target market of 16 year old kids that go to little kid clubs and don't have the intellect to grasp "Lyrics" or a decent beat.. Fuck ALMOST every Rapper.. Fuck the mainstream industry & its ignorants spreading idealisms.. -That is all-
You do realize your favorite person in hip hop is probably a rapper right? Emcee's are basically hypemen, if you go back to the history of it. Rappers spit more complex rythmes like people today, after the DJ went into the shadow of the emcee, the emcee became known as the rapper ...
