They are 17 so called Gods that individuals or even groups worship, ours is not an exeption, but how are you sure that our god that we serve is the right one? ''/

Its simple to me really
There is no right answer to this question. Religion in itself is not the right path to take IMO! I believe that there is a higher being and that he may have sent a profit to do his teachings but, I don't think that our perception of (God) in general is correct. I believe your conscience is the way the divine speaks to you. The scriptures are just guidelines to highlight what other people have been inspired to preach by their own conscience. Religion in fact is the reason for almost every major war that has ever taken place on this planet since written history. Now I do believe that all the religions do have one thing correct you must believe. But directing all of your energy to one teaching is a waste of human intellect again this is MY OPINION. If you believe and abide by your own beliefs I think that there could be no way that a divine being or entity would hold you in punishment.

^Interesting view, yet those who've done what you're arguing against, "directing all of your energy to one teaching" have done great things for others and for the world in general. Personally i think it's the perspective that causes the problem, and human error, such as pride and jealousy... But it'd be interesting to see your thoughts. Oh and in response to your last comment. If you have a child, who you care for, gave life to, and give total freedom. Would it be too much to ask, that they respect you? Or that they show some sort of gratitude to you? If you have a group that you preside over, and again give them freedoms, but tell them that those who are seen as wrongdoers by your standards, who've been given ample warning, will be removed... is it wrong that those who have listened to what you've said, but follow their own standards (which are not in compliance with yours) are removed too?
I'm just throwing out badly worded ideas cas it's late and i wanna start a discussion lol

Well I see some of your points. Its just that you just like most religions in that statement are outright contradicting yourself. If you give someone total freedom then no they should not HAVE to respect you at all but, in a choice of there own CHOOSE to do so. I do agree that human error causes most of the problems with religion, the divine did not do the writing. That is the first part of an error that could occur. Secondly, the reader has to interpret the message that the first human was trying to portray. Then application of those ideals that could have been flawed out the gate or misinterpreted by the reader. That is an overabundance of possibility in which religion could be misrepresented. If one just listens.... to the voice inside of all of us. That margin of error is greatly reduced. As for the people that have done great things for us in directing their energy at one specific teaching, its not because OF THE BOOK they chose to bring to light but, the ideal that they understood and applied. I can show many examples of children's books that also have great morals and such contained within their content. That does not mean I should worship Curious George does it. As for the standards issue.. every living thing knows right from wrong from the smartest human down to every little blade of grass. Its the choice thats the beautiful part of life. I do not believe that the divine would "remove you" if you strive through your life to do what you believe to be right. I certainly don't think that he would hold you to HIS STANDARDS or nothing would ever make it. Again people these are just MY THOUGHTS please don't hit me with a million quotes of any scripture on why I am wrong lmao.
Thanks
Respect Reptillian

I think religion(s), "god(s)" and the belief theres a higher being or beings controlling events, actions, etc. was made up to explain the uknown, and make people feel more at ease and have hope.
No offense to the very religious on here and all, but jus my opinion.

^ In many religions they are all interrelated with one god and different messengers for each religion
they all have a common belief that there is 1 holy god, but origins, oracles and messengers are what differencient them
atleast that's what i've been educated on..

There are wayyy more then just 17 religions.. ^ In many religions they are all interrelated with one god and different messengers for each religion they all have a common belief that there is 1 holy god, but origins, oracles and messengers are what differencient them atleast that's what i've been educated on.. Not all religions believe there is 1 holy God...some are pantheistic, some are monotheistic, some are atheistic...Buddhists don't believe there is a God, while Hindu's believe there are lots of different Gods.. I think religion(s), "god(s)" and the belief theres a higher being or beings controlling events, actions, etc. was made up to explain the uknown, and make people feel more at ease and have hope. No offense to the very religious on here and all, but jus my opinion. I agree with you to a point...but then what about the 'miracles' and similiar supernatural experiences that have happened? i:e stuff like instant healing after prayer, people being possessed by demons, having supernatural powers through meditation...all of which has been documented to happen? I wouldn't throw around the idea of there being a higher being/deity, especially after some of the things I've seen...that's one of the reasons why I'm so interested and have been researching theology so much...and I'd go as far as to say that there is a God out there..
