I got no real evidence, just my personal opinion but souls are immortal, right ? But when the brain dies, our beliefs and thoughts die too, so what would be the point of a soul ?
But just my opinion..

A soul is a living thing. It is essentially you. It doesn't need a form.

Your soul is what dictates messages to your brain. The thoughts we have are basically the intricate language of our souls. As stated above, I don't believe the soul has a specific form. Somehow our bodies are manifestations of what our soul wanted to create as it's vessel, feel me? If you want to look at it another way, the soul kind of coincides with 'God'. To know your own soul, or even to recognize it, is to know & recognize 'God'. Most of you probably know it as 'God the Father'. That which is incomprehensible, yet it's omnipresence is felt all around us. Some people need to tap into this through meditation or prayer, those who seek that oneness. Your soul governs your body. The soul tells your brain what to tell your body. I could take you guys into the rabbit hole, but it's too early, haha... I haven't been here long enough to start playing sensei.

According to my research the holy spirit is the result of Soul & Mind uniting, which is called the holy union. I've read that with this union occurs, the flesh is as irrelevant as Soulja Boys lyrical content. I don't know if you're into anime, but the mind reuniting with it's creator is like Goku ascending to become a super saiyan. It's the elevation of mind that leads to a higher consciousness. That peace is known as heaven, or Nirvana, Samadhi, what ever you'd like to call it. That's why they say that the kingdom of heaven is within you. It's very real though...

Eh... Don't quote me on it though, it's just an opinion based on the understanding of my studies. Understandings differ as well as opinions, nah mean? We'd probably have to discuss after reading from the same source.

True,I Got Bored And Checked Out What It Says On Wiki
The soul, according to many religious and philosophical traditions, is the self-aware essence unique to a particular living being. In these traditions the soul is thought to incorporate the inner essence of each living being, and to be the true basis for sapience, rather than the brain or any other material or natural part of the biological organism. Some religions and philosophies on the other hand believe in the soul having a material component, and some have even tried to establish the weight of the soul. Souls are usually considered to be immortal and to exist prior to incarnation.
